KEA has taken different characteristics from various animals to create a hybrid that is visually quite bizarre. The artwork shows the artist’s unique quality of embodying simultaneously senses of sweetness, humor, and darkness, and his work is in direct correlation to the delicate coexistence of the many ironic elements found in the contemporary world. He has taken historic figures and placed them in contemporary settings, where the Mona Lisa has been stripped of her upright seriousness and is transformed into a sexy battlefield warrior. Other wise and great men are turned back into primitive ape-men, and fashion brands are transported back in time and attacked by prehistoric dinosaurs. KEA does not directly point out the craziness and chaos of this current era, but he chooses to use ways that are easily understandable for us to realize the unusual barbaric behaviors happening in this so-called-civilized world.
